Alumni Visit to Cambridge
 Forty-five Alumni and Friends travelled from around the world to the United Kingdom to participate in the Alumni Visit to the University of Cambridge held from 26 July - 1 August. Participants, along with Alumni living in the UK, enjoyed a reception as part of the program, with Deputy Vice-Chancellor Lawrence Cram.

Professor Murray Esler (PhD 1973) wins Victoria Prize
 Professor Murray Esler, a biomedical researcher who pioneered new ways of treating heart failure, stress and high blood pressure, was presented with Victoria's most prestigious science award, worth $50,000, by Governor of Victoria Professor David de Kretser. Read more |

| Nadia Baker

Now: Schools Outreach Officer, University of Cambridge
Nadia is currently working on 'The Hands-on Risk and Probability Show' at the University of Cambridge. "I develop and manage all aspects of the project and deliver interactive presentations and workshops in secondary schools throughout the United Kingdom and abroad communicating the mathematics behind situations in the real world involving risk, probability and chance."
Nadia also completed 'The Enigma Project' that involved visiting over 200 schools and organisations internationally, delivering hands-on workshops on Cryptography which included demonstrating a genuine WWII Enigma machine.
The career history of Nadia includes time as a Mathematics and English Teacher as well as an Education Officer at the Science Education Centre in Canberra. In addition to this Nadia has also been a Floor Manager and Science Show Presentator at the Investigator Science and Technology Centre in Adelaide, Australia.

Now: Chief Executive Officer, Geoscience Australia
Neil is the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Government's national geoscientific research and spatial information agency, Geoscience Australia. Neil trained as an economic geologist and after completing his degree at ANU he studied for a PhD at Yale University. Upon completion, he returned to ANU for five years as an academic
